What the Unit Converter does

Converting units across imperial and metric systems is a daily necessity for engineers, travelers, cooks, and students. This universal unit converter eliminates the guesswork by calculating values across 8 core physical dimensions — Length, Weight/Mass, Temperature, Area, Volume, Speed, Digital Storage, and Time. Instead of showing only a single converted number, it provides an interactive real-time comparison grid that shows how your measurement translates into every unit in that category simultaneously, complete with formulas and quick presets.

How to convert measurement units online

  1. Select your measurement category from the top tabs (e.g., Length, Weight, Temperature, or Digital Storage).
  2. Type your value into the 'From' input box.
  3. Choose your starting unit in the 'From' dropdown and target unit in the 'To' dropdown.
  4. View the converted value instantly in the right box. Click the swap button (⇄) anytime to reverse the conversion.
  5. Scroll down to inspect the Complete Comparison Grid to see your value translated across all units in the category.
  6. Click 'Copy Result' to copy the formatted number directly to your clipboard.

The Unit Converter runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, stored, or logged.

How it works

Length (Kilometer to Mile)

Miles = Kilometers × 0.621371

Converts metric kilometers to international statute miles.

Example: 10 km × 0.621371 = 6.21371 miles

Temperature (Celsius to Fahrenheit)

°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32

Linear temperature scale conversion between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Example: (100°C × 9/5) + 32 = 212°F

When to use it

International travel & navigation

Quickly convert highway speeds from km/h to mph, distances from kilometers to miles, and ambient weather temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Cooking & baking recipe scaling

Translate European metric baking measurements (grams, milliliters) into US volume measures (cups, tablespoons, fluid ounces) effortlessly.

IT & cloud storage planning

Convert accurately between decimal storage metrics (GB, TB) and binary computing architectures (GiB, TiB) when provisioning cloud servers or purchasing storage.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Which measurement categories are supported?

The converter supports 8 primary categories: Length & Distance, Weight & Mass, Temperature, Area, Volume & Capacity, Speed, Digital Storage, and Time.

Does it show decimal vs binary digital storage?

Yes. Digital storage covers both standard decimal units (KB, MB, GB, TB) and binary IEEE 1541 units (KiB, MiB, GiB) for accurate hardware and file size conversions.

Can I copy the converted result easily?

Yes, click the 'Copy Result' button or click on any tile in the live comparison grid to instantly copy the exact formatted value to your clipboard.

Are temperature conversions proportional?

No, temperature uses interval scaling with different zero-points. The converter uses exact formulas: °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32 and K = °C + 273.15.
