About TabBench
TabBench is a collection of 129 free tools for everyday tasks — working out a percentage, shrinking a photo, merging PDFs, formatting JSON — that open instantly in your browser with no account and, for almost all of them, no upload.
What you can do here
The tools are grouped by the job they help with. Each one has its own page explaining what it does, how to use it, and — for calculators — the exact formula it applies.
- Calculators & Finance (13 tools) — Work out percentages, GST, loan EMIs, SIP returns, take-home pay and unit conversions.
- PDF & Documents (10 tools) — Edit, merge, split, rotate and convert PDFs, including PDF to Word and images to PDF.
- Image & Media (21 tools) — Compress, resize, crop and convert images, make QR codes and barcodes, and trim video.
- Text & Writing (9 tools) — Count words, change case, compare, sort and clean text, or dictate and listen to it.
- Date & Time (11 tools) — Find your exact age, count days or business days between dates, convert timestamps and time things.
- Business & Marketing (3 tools) — Price with confidence: profit margins, break-even points, ROI and campaign tracking links.
- Random & Games (4 tools) — Flip a coin, roll dice, draw random numbers, pick a name or spin a wheel, with fair, unbiased randomness.
- AI Tools (11 tools) — Summarise, rewrite and simplify text, extract keywords, explain JSON and read text in images.
- Developer & Data (24 tools) — Format and validate JSON, encode Base64 and URLs, decode JWTs, test regex and convert data.
- API, HTTP & Network (21 tools) — Test your internet speed, look up status codes and headers, parse URLs, send requests and turn cURL into fetch, Axios or Python.
- Security & Generators (2 tools) — Generate strong passwords and cryptographic hashes without anything leaving your device.
Alongside the tools there are 26 step-by-step guides for common tasks, such as getting a photo under a size limit or filling in a PDF form.
How the tools handle your data
118 of the 129 tools run entirely in your browser: the file you choose or the text you type is processed on your own device and is never sent to us. It also means a large file never has to wait for an upload before the work starts.
The exceptions are stated on each tool's page, and are:
- Optional cloud AI. Image to Text (OCR), AI Code & Formula Explainer, AI Text Summarizer, AI Text Rewriter, AI Text Simplifier, AI Keyword Extractor and AI JSON Explainer run on your device by default. If you switch one to its cloud mode, the text or image you submit is sent to Google Gemini to produce the result.
- API Request Builder. Requests go directly from your browser to the address you enter. TabBench does not see or store them.
- Internet Speed Test. Runs a test against Cloudflare's speed-test servers, which see your IP address like any website you visit. Nothing you type is involved, and results stay on your device.
- Currency Converter. Fetches live exchange rates. The amounts you type are never sent.
- Speech to Text. Uses your browser's speech recognition, which may process audio on your browser vendor's servers.
Your favorites, recently used tools and recent searches are remembered in this browser only. The privacy policy lists everything the site stores and has a button that erases all of it.
How calculations are checked
Every calculator page shows the formula it uses, with a worked example you can reproduce by hand — see the EMI calculator or the GST calculator. Where a tool has a real limitation, its page says so: the video cutter cuts on keyframes, and the PDF inspector reports what makes a PDF large rather than pretending to compress it.
If a result looks wrong, tell us with the inputs you used and we will check it and correct the tool. The editorial policy describes how corrections are handled.
How TabBench is paid for
The tools are free and there is no paid tier. The site is supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are kept away from the tools themselves: never between a tool's title and its controls, never beside a download button, and never styled to look like a tool or a search result.
What we won't do
- Ask you to sign up, or put a tool behind an email address.
- Upload a file for a job your browser can do itself.
- Sell or share what you type or upload — for local tools, we never receive it in the first place.
- Add a fake “processing” delay or a countdown before a download.
