AI Text Rewriter
Rewrite text in professional, friendly, concise, formal, or casual tones while preserving core meaning.
Runs on your device by default. The optional cloud AI mode sends your input to Google Gemini.
What the AI Text Rewriter does
The same message can come across as careless, stiff or friendly depending on a few words. This rewriter adjusts the tone of your text — professional, formal, friendly, casual, concise or simple — in two ways. The on-device engine makes safe, rule-based edits in your browser: it fixes slang and text-speak, expands or adds contractions, removes filler and wordy phrases, and softens stiff openings, then shows every change so you can review it. The optional Cloud AI mode sends the text to Google Gemini, which rewrites it in the chosen tone while keeping the facts.
How to change the tone of your writing
- Choose the engine: On-device for private edits you can review, or Cloud AI for a full rewrite.
- Paste your email, message or paragraph.
- Pick a tone. The line under the tones describes what it does.
- Press Rewrite, or Ctrl + Enter.
- Use Show changes to see each edit highlighted, then copy the result.
The AI Text Rewriter runs on your device by default. If you switch to the optional cloud AI mode, your input is sent to Google's Gemini model to produce the result.
When to use it
Polishing a quick message to your manager
"Hey boss, I'm gonna be late, gotta reschedule our 1-on-1" becomes "Hello boss, I'm going to be late, we have to reschedule our one-to-one" in the professional tone — the same message, without the slang.
Making formal letters warmer
Customer emails that start "Dear Sir/Madam, we regret to inform you that…" read as cold. The friendly tone turns that into "Hi there, unfortunately…" and adds natural contractions.
Cutting word count
The concise tone removes phrases such as "in order to", "due to the fact that" and "at this point in time", which is useful for word-limited forms, abstracts and social posts.
Good to know
- Always read the result before sending. Tone depends on context that no tool can fully judge.
- On-device edits are deliberately conservative: they only change words where the new version means the same thing. If nothing needs changing, the tool says so rather than altering your text.
- Cloud AI keeps facts, numbers, names and dates, but check them anyway when the message matters.
- For very important emails, rewrite once, then edit by hand; two passes through any tool can drift from what you meant.
