  • Total days and total weeks will not divide evenly into the years-months-days figure, because months vary in length. Both are correct answers to different questions.

How is exact age calculated?

By counting completed years from the birth date to the reference date, then completed months from the last birthday, then remaining days. This is why the result is not simply the difference in calendar years — if your birthday has not yet occurred this year, you are one year younger than the year subtraction suggests.

How does the calculator handle leap years?

It uses real calendar arithmetic rather than a fixed 365-day year, so every 29 February between the two dates is counted correctly. For a birthday of 29 February, the anniversary in a non-leap year is treated as 28 February, which matches the convention used by most legal and administrative systems.

Why does my age in days seem higher than expected?

Because a year averages 365.25 days, not 365. Over 40 years that is an extra 10 days from leap days alone. Multiplying years by 365 always undercounts.
