Barcode Scanner

Scan and read 1D and 2D barcodes using your camera or image uploads. Recognizes EAN-13, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, and more.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you add is uploaded.

What the Barcode Scanner does

This client-side Barcode Scanner reads 1D linear barcodes and 2D matrix symbologies in real time using your device camera or uploaded image files. Ideal for warehouse inventory checks, retail product lookups, and batch scanning without dedicated handheld hardware.

How to scan and read barcodes

  1. Select 'Upload Image or Paste' to drop a photo or screenshot, or 'Live Camera Scanner' for continuous real-time reading.
  2. Hold the barcode level within the viewfinder. The animated laser guide helps align horizontal barcodes for instant detection.
  3. Once scanned, view the detected barcode standard, decoded value, and click 'Search Product Info' to check retail item details on Google.
  4. Enable 'Batch Scan Mode' if you need to scan a succession of barcodes for inventory counting, then export the entire list to CSV.

The Barcode Scanner runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, stored, or logged.

When to use it

Retail product lookup

Scan EAN-13 or UPC barcodes on retail items to immediately look up product details, pricing, reviews, and specifications online.

Warehouse inventory & stock audits

Use batch scan mode on mobile or tablet to scan boxes, assets, and bin tags in sequence without stopping, exporting the final scan manifest as CSV.

Shipping manifest verification

Verify incoming and outgoing courier tracking numbers encoded in Code 128 or Code 39 format directly on your laptop webcam.

Good to know

  • Hold the barcode perpendicular to the scanning line for the fastest read rates.
  • If scanning with a smartphone, hold the camera roughly 15–20 cm away to allow the lens to focus crisply.
  • Avoid strong reflections or glossy glare over the black bars by tilting the package slightly.
  • The scanner supports multi-symbology auto-detection, meaning you do not need to configure the barcode format ahead of time.

Frequently asked questions

Which barcode formats can this scanner read?

It reads all major 1D linear barcodes including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, ITF, and Codabar, as well as 2D codes like QR Code and Data Matrix.

Can I scan multiple barcodes in a warehouse or store?

Yes. Enable 'Batch Scan Mode' to scan items continuously one after another. The scanner collects each barcode with timestamps and lets you export the full list as a CSV file.

Which 1D and 2D barcode types are supported?

The scanner detects EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF), Codabar, QR Code, and Data Matrix.

How does batch scanning work?

When Batch Scan Mode is turned on, the camera stays active after each scan and appends newly detected items to a list with timestamps, preventing accidental duplicates and offering a 1-click CSV download.

Is internet access required to scan barcodes?

No. All barcode recognition runs 100% locally in your browser. Internet access is only utilized if you choose to click the external product search link.
